The Islamic Radio and TV Union condemns attacks on media institutions on the basis of hegemony and domination
Tehran (ST): The Islamic Radios and Televisions Union condemned all violations against media institutions and platforms including rights to broadcast, express or discriminate for content and block access on the basis of hegemony and domination.
The final statement of the activities of the tenth meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and TV Union under the slogan “Media justice and freedom of expression”, which was held in Tehran and 7 cities, affirmed that the Union stands by all media institutions and media professionals who are exposed to repeated violations of their rights and supports them in all possible ways.
The statement expressed rejection of the policies of hegemony, domination and superiority over peoples and groups, standing up in confrontation of injustice, tyranny and occupation, and supporting the oppressed peoples who are subjected to attacks and supporting them in the media. They also stressed the need for media support for the Palestinian people and the need to highlight their sacrifices and struggle against the occupation.
The Union also affirmed its support for the Yemeni people in resisting the assault on their rights and land, supporting the peaceful struggle of the Bahraini people, helping the Iraqi and Syrian people to recover from the effects of the battle against terrorism, expressing the aspirations of all the oppressed and resistance fighters in the world and supporting them in various ways.
The Union called on all media institutions of common interest, various international organizations and specialized associations to cooperate more with the Union, its institutions and members in various media fields in order to elevate work, develop the media experience and share roles to achieve the goals of the media message they believe in, and to exert efforts for coordination and cooperation which guarantees everyone’s success.
The deliberations of the tenth meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union, under the slogan “Media justice and freedom of expression”, was launched in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with the participation of Minister of Information Imad Sara via video conference technology, representatives of member states, political experts and cultural officials.
