Solar Energy-Power Station at a cost of about one billion SYP put into service  in the countryside of  Sweida

“ Al-Ajmaa”  power station operated by  solar energy, which was put into service in the village of Hawt   in the southern countryside of  Sweida , is  one of the most important renewable energy projects in the governorate and a reflection of the growing investment in this field.

The power station , which was carried out  by the Blue Planet Company for Energy Alternatives, was linked with the electrical network, to be the largest currently among the solar power stations  in the governorate in terms of its capacity, according to the concerned parties.

“the cost of the station, which is built on an area of 10 dunums, amounted to about one billion  SYP . It depends on generating electricity from sunlight and supplying  it   for drinking water wells in a number of villages as well as providing 35 job opportunities” According to the chairman of the board of directors of the company executing the project, Dr. Samer Alwan,.

He told  SANA that  the project is carried out by the company with the participation of 96 shareholders  and it was licensed for 25 years as an investment in accordance with the provisions of Electricity Law No. 32 of 2010 with the aim of selling all the electricity produced from it to the General Company for Electricity of  Sweida  Governorate at encouraging prices. .

Dr. Alwan explained that the station is an environmentally integrated project, where the green architecture was completely adopted by investing the land through planting peppermint, which is  a medicinal plant , and stevia plant  as well as  constructing  pyramidal buildings and investing them in hydroponics.

He pointed out that  for the first time in Syria a  floor- building made of environmentally friendly wood with an area of 120 meters per floor is constructed  in addition to allocating buildings for workers made of basalt stone.

According to the General Director of the General Company for Sweida Electricity, Eng. Nidal Nofal,  “Al-Ajama” power station  , which has a capacity of 900 kilowatts, is an addition to 14 stations that have been  carried out  and put into service with photovoltaic energy in the governorate with lower capacities ranging between 30 and 150 kilowatts, five of which  have been put into service  recently in addition to Al-Ajama Station.

Eng. Nofal indicated that the total capacity of the 15 stations put into service with photovoltaic energy in the governorate amounts to 1930 kilowatts, pointing out that there are 5 stations currently under implementation with a total capacity of 500 kilowatts, within the framework  of the need for renewable energy stations that constitute an important and necessary tributary to the electrical network.

He  called  for investment in this area  due to the economic feasibility it achieves for investors, especially with the good sunshine hours in the governorate.
