On June 28th, the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, Leonid Slutsky, called for the discussion of the US air aggression on the Syrian-Iraqi border points in the UN Security Council.
In an interview with reporters in Moscow, Slutsky described Washington’s conduct of this American aggression as barbaric and illogical behavior and criticized the Western draft resolution to extend the so-called humanitarian corridors used by the United States under the pretext of sending humanitarian shipments to Syria.
Slutsky said : “ This American aid is incomprehensible as Americans bomb with one hand and send humanitarian shipments with another hand.”
Slutsky pointed out that Moscow is committed to communicating with other parties to find solutions on the platform of the UN Security Council, not unilaterally, as the United States did before.
Slutsky stressed that the UN Security Council platform is capable of resolving all contentious issues at the negotiating table, especially those related to the Syrian land.
The Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma, Yuri Shvetkin, confirmed earlier that the US air strikes on sites in Syria and Iraq is an “aggressive act”, stressing that the aggression is a brutal act that lacks any legitimacy.
