Czech for a Peaceful Solution to Syria Crisis

PRAGUE,(ST)_ Czech Foreign Minister Carl Chwertsenberg discussed  with the delegation of the national coordinating body democratic change forces in Syria, the current situation in Syria and the mechanism to support efforts to reach a peaceful solution to its  crisis.

In a statement on its web, the Czech Foreign Ministry said  yesterday that “the two sides agreed on the importance of the international conference to be held on Syria in Geneva,” stressing  the  conference as “fundamentally important.”

“Discussions  focused on supporting a peaceful political  solution to the crisis in Syria,” noting that “Chwertsenberg stressed to the Syrian side Czech Republic support for  accepting  the Syrian opposition at home as part of a legitimate Syrian opposition beside  representatives of the opposition abroad,” the ministry said

Worthy mentioning  that the Czech Republic and Austria opposed steps pursued by some EU countries, especially France and Britain in  arming terrorist groups in Syria and warned that arming the opposition will put  weapons into the hands of al-Qaeda affiliated extremist organizations .
