The Synod of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church calls for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria
Beirut (ST): The Synod of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church appealed to international forums to work to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria and countries in the region.
The statement issued by the Synod of the Church at the conclusion of its meeting in Lebanon today, headed by Patriarch Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Melkite Greek Catholics, said that the Priests and Metropolitans made an appeal to international forums to lift the sanctions against the peoples of the countries in the region that suffer from them, especially Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
The statement pointed out that the bishops discussed several issues including the faltering economic situation in Lebanon, calling for the formation of the Lebanese government as soon as possible.
On the situation in occupied Palestine, the meeting condemned the painful events in Palestine, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent children, women and the elderly, calling for halting the war, supporting the Palestinian cause and seeking a just solution to it.
Patriarch al-Absi inaugurated the deliberations of the Synod last Monday at the Patriarchal Headquarters in Rabwah, Lebanon, with the participation of Metropolitans, members of the Holy Synod coming from the Middle East and countries of emigration.
