Borisov: Work under way on preparing a long-term strategic agreement to boost cooperation with Syria
Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Yury Borisov, has declared that his country will continue to boost cooperation with Syria and support its people besides preparing a long-term strategic agreement to expand economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Syria, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).
“I conveyed to President Bashar Al-Assad the congratulations and appreciation of President Vladimir Putin after the major victory of the Presidential elections in Syria which expressed the people’s confidence in their elected president,” Borisov said in a joint press conference with Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam prior to his departure at Damascus International Airport.
He described his meeting with President al-Assad as constructive and fruitful and that it will lead to more cooperation.
As for the long-term strategic agreement, Borisov clarified that preparations are underway to expand cooperation between the two countries, adding that this cooperation will cover domains of economy, trade, industry and energy.
“Russia is doing its best to help the Syrian people, particularly during the difficult circumstances caused by the blockade and the western sanctions,” Borisov said.
For his part, Minister Azzam, affirmed that the joint projects between the two countries are strategic ones and serve the interests of the two peoples.
