DAMASCUS, ( ST)_ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed on Tuesday that the attempts of terrorist groups to fabricate a chemical attack in Idleb province to accuse the Syrian army of using chemical weapons are orchestrated and supported by the US, some Western countries and Turkish intelligence services.
An official source at the ministry said in statement that the terrorist organizations and terrorists from the White Helmets group and their supporters on the ground and at international forums have not stopped preparations for terrorist acts through staging chemical attacks in some areas of Idlib and Hama provinces with the aim of accusing the Syrian army.
“Terrorists affiliated to the Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham [HTS] have brought in tankers carrying chlorine through Bab Al-Hawa crossing point at the Syrian-Turkish border. The tankers headed to Atmah town where there is a factory for producing chlorine gas,” the source added, pointing out that the HTS terrorists in cooperation with the White Helmets will fill missiles with chlorine to use them in attacks on civilians in Idlib countryside to accuse the Syrian army and its allies with chemical attack.
“The acts of terrorist organizations, regardless of their different names, are done upon orders and support of the United States, some Western countries and the Turkish intelligence services,” it added.
The source affirmed that Syria will hold the countries that support those terrorists, especially the United States, Britain, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey, responsible for using those toxic materials and killing innocent civilians without any moral deterrent.
“Syria also calls on the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons not to ignore this information and the need to take it seriously and deal with it within the framework of its mandate specified in light of the Chemical Weapons convention the Convention,” it stated.
The source concluded by saying that the Syrian Arab Republic has repeatedly stressed its categorical rejection of the use of chemical weapons by anyone, anywhere and under any circumstance, and that it has not used these weapons before and cannot use them now as it basically does not possess them.
