Syria, Iraq discuss facilitating mutual shipment of products to meet the needs of the markets in both countries
Prime Minister Hussein Arnous on Saturday met with the Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Karim Al-Khafaji and discussed with him the Syrian-Iraqi coordination to support agricultural production, establish joint company for agricultural industries and land transport and achieve water security.
Talks dealt with finding ways to exchange products and goods, facilitate shipment procedures to help meet the needs of the Syrian and Iraqi markets of various products.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in scientific research to support agriculture in both countries and in adopting suitable cultivation policies that helps confront climate changes and global warming, noting the need to cooperate with ACSAD in this concern.
Arnous affirmed the Syrian government’s willingness to Expand cooperation with Iraq in all fields, particularly trade, transport, investment, agriculture and scientific research that helps achieve self-sufficiency and food security in both countries.
The premier called for implementing the agreements signed between the agriculture ministries in Syria and Iraq and for finding ways to achieve integration between the economies of the two countries.
On his part, the Iraqi minister stressed the need to use the distinguished relations between Syria and Iraq in expanding cooperation and launching new projects that contribute to achieving food security in both countries.
