Ambassador Khaddour presents his credentials to the United Nations Offices in Vienna for Drugs, Crime and Outer Space Affairs

Vienna (ST): Ambassador Dr. Hassan Khaddour, Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Vienna, presented his credentials to Ghada Wali, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director General of the United Nations Office at Vienna. 

Ambassador Khaddour discussed with Wali the reactivation and development of cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the areas of combating drug smuggling and cross-border smuggling, combating terrorism and organized crime, in addition to issues of combating human trafficking, preventing antiquities theft and looting historical, cultural and religious monuments.

Wali affirmed that she is aware of the importance of providing support to Syria in light of the difficult circumstances it is facing, and that she is interested in activating cooperation in various issues that fall within the jurisdiction of her office.

Ambassador Khaddour also presented his credentials to Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.

The ambassador discussed with Di Pippo ways to renew and activate cooperation between Syria and the office, especially in the context of providing support to the Remote Sensing Authority in the areas of interest to it in this regard, in particular in building national capacities through participation in training courses and workshops conducted by the Committee on the use of Outer Space for peaceful purposes.
