Renewed sit-ins and roadblocks in some Lebanese regions

Sit-ins and roadblocks were renewed in some Lebanese regions on Monday, especially in Sidon and Tripoli, in protest against the deteriorating economic and living conditions.

The Lebanese National News Agency stated that protesters blocked the road at the Elia intersection square in Sidon, south of Lebanon, with burning tires, in demand of better living and economic conditions. Other protesters blocked the Taalbaya Saad Naiel Road in Zahle in the Bekaa Valley with burning tires, obstacles and stones.

 

In Tripoli, northern Lebanon, other protesters blocked al-Marj roundabouts with burning tires, waste containers and stones,  demanding improvement in economic, social and living conditions. Another group of protesters organized demonstrations that roamed the city’s streets to express their anger at the deteriorating economic situation and conditions amid strict security measures. The protestors blocked the two roads of the city of the Roxy / Abdel Hamid Karami Square.

Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins protesting the deteriorating living and economic conditions and demanding the fight against corruption in the country.
