Syria has cooperated with IAEA despite difficulties, says Ambassador Khaddour

VIENNA, (ST)_ Syria’s permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ambassador Hassan Khaddour, affirmed that Syria has cooperated with the international organization and met its legal obligations according to the agreement of comprehensive Safeguards  and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Agreement.

He pointed out that Syria has met its obligations according to the agreement of comprehensive Safeguards despite the hostile and aggressive policies of certain parties towards Syria.

“Keeping Israel, which posses nuclear potentials, outside the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, and this is a grave danger to the Non-Proliferation system… its rejection of all initiatives to make the Middle East a zone free of Nuclear Weapons poses a threat to stability and security of the region,” Ambassador Khaddour added in a speech at IAEA session of Board of Governors in Vienna.

The Ambassador added that the continuous cooperation between the IAEA and Iran according to the agreed upon procedures facilitates the full and active implementation of the obligations of the two sides.
