900 children from different governorates participate in the first placement test for the programming marathon for the year 2021

Damascus (ST): About 900 children from different governorates participated in the first level test for the programming marathon for children and teenagers for the year 2021, which is organized by the Syrian Virtual University and the Excellence and Creativity Commission within their digital development project for young people and teenagers.

The test, which was conducted “remotely” for children aged 8 to 11 years and lasted from 12 noon until 6 pm, aims to assess the participants’ thinking and logical analysis skills and their knowledge of the approved programming languages in order to distribute them on three levels “beginner, intermediate and advanced” to start training stage in proportion to each level.

 

Director of the Lifelong Learning Center at the Syrian Virtual University, Saya Gojel, explained in a statement that the test was carried out from the virtual university’s electronic platform for the competition, and the children participated in it independently, each from their own account, indicating that it included simple issues in programming languages with the aim of identifying the children’s levels and that the results would be issued within two days after studying it by the scientific committees.

Engineer Maya Taqi, director of the joint digital development project for young people and teenagers indicated in a similar statement that the test was conducted “remotely”, taking into account the measures to address the Corona pandemic and to avoid any gatherings of participating children, pointing out that the process of training participants in the marathon will start at the end of current June.

Engineer Taqi confirmed that the software marathon competition is a first stage of achieving digital transformation that serves economic and social development in any society and a foundational stage whose outputs can be benefited from in building up the country.
