Haddad: Wide participation in presidential elections in Syria confirms the Syrians’ adherence to their national unity

Syria’s Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad has emphasized that the wide participation in presidential elections in Syria stresses the Syrian people’s adherence to their national unity and to the policy of their president and it indicates the Syrians’ determination to decide the future of their country away from foreign pressure and blackmail attempts.

 In a statement during an online meeting with Arab graduates from Russian universities held on Saturday on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum in Petersburg, Haddad said that through voting heavily in the presidential elections, the Syrian people have proved that they are the party which has the final say as regards to granting legitimacy to any constitutional entitlement.

  He criticized the reckless behavior of some western countries which prevented the Syrians from exercising their right to vote under illegal pretexts, noting the failure of these countries in achieving their hostile goals in Syria.

Haddad talked about the hostile policies of some western states towards Syria over the past years, including supporting terrorist organizations, imposing unilateral coercive measures, impeding the Syrian refugees’ return to their homeland, promoting lies and fake reports about Syria, occupying Syrian territories and stealing Syria’s resources including oil and wheat to further worsen the suffering of the Syrian people.

He pointed out that the Turkish regime cut off water supplies for citizens in the Syria city of Hasakah and the surrounding areas and deprived Syria and Iraq from the water supplies coming from the Euphrates and the Tigris rivers in a flagrant violation of relevant signed agreements.

Haddad reiterated that Syria will continue with its efforts to expel all the occupying forces which are present in Syria without the Syrian government’s invitation, stressing that Syria will continue to be committed to the Syrian-led political process, to the reconstruction process and to the refugees’ return.
