Sabbagh: OPCW has turned into a tool in a geopolitical game led by the United States and its Western allies
Sabbagh said that Syria rejects the pressures of these countries and considers it just a means for political blackmail.
During a Security Council session, Sabbagh said that over the past years, countries supporting terrorists have diverted attention from their use of chemical weapons and toxic chemicals or threatened to do so, and pressured the OPCW investigation teams to impose the agendas of those countries.
Sabbagh added that Syria has been providing the United Nations and the OPCW with information about the possession and transfer of chemical weapons and toxic chemicals by terrorist organizations to fabricate chemical plays and accuse the Syrian Arab Army of them.
Sabbagh said that the experts of the Syrian National Committee, during consultations with the OPCW’s evaluation team, provide technical explanations that support the information announced by Syria.
“It is not permissible to launch prior accusations about issues still under discussion,” Sabbagh said.
