Key Syrian and Russian archeological sites highlighted in a documentary exhibition at the Faculty of Architectural Engineering in Damascus

A documentary exhibition for the most important Syrian and Russian archeological sites was opened on Monday at the Faculty of Architectural Engineering in Damascus.

The event was held within the framework of the cultural and scientific activities launched by the Faculty of Letters and Humanities of Damascus University in cooperation with the Higher Institute for Regional Planning, the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and the geographic associations in Syria and Russia.

The Syrian-Russian exhibition showcased more than 60 photos and maps for the most distinguished cities and the most beautiful archeological sites as well as architectural designs in the two countries.

Nikolai Sukhov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, told SANA that the exhibition aims at shedding light on the historical importance of these sites to provide the students of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering in Damascus with an idea about the architectural designs that characterize buildings and cities in Russia.

According to Dean of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering in Damascus Oqba Fakoush, the photos and maps presented by the students and teachers were selected in an accurate and artistic way.

 On his part, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Humanities Osama Qadour said that the accompanying Syrian and Russian cultural and scientific activities will last until June 13th and they will include concerts, scientific days on the Russian language and joint meetings between the Syrian and Russian teachers on geographic sciences.

Rida Deep, Dean of the Higher Institute for Regional Planning, said that the documentary exhibition and the accompanying cultural and scientific activities will help enhance cultural and scientific tourism between the two countries.
