Syrian team ranks first in the Open Arab Mental Arithmetic Championship

The Syrian team participating in the Open Arab Mental Arithmetic Championship, held online, in Algeria, won the first position after a strong competition that lasted for four months. More than 2000 children from all Arab countries took part in this event.

Rawda Al-Mukattaf, the coach who trained the Syrian team from the city of Qamishli, said that the Syrian child Zana Othman ranked first in the finals of the competition which witnessed the participation of five Syrian children.

Ahmad Dirbas and Anud Al-Kirt won the third place in the composite level, while Sa’d Al-Kheder and Alia Faisal Saleh came third in the simple level, she added, expressing her happiness over this achievement.

On his part, Director of the IELTS Center Muhammad Matar said that as a result of the Syrian team’s advanced results, four children from this team were included in the “Arab countries team for Mental Arithmetic Team”, which consists of 12 children, to participate in future international tournaments.

 Last year, a Syrian team also from Qamishli city won the second place in the Arab Mental Arithmetic Championship held in Egypt.
