On May 29th, the presidential candidate for the opposition Syrian Democratic Front, Mahmoud Mari, announced that the stage of competition had ended with the end of the Syrian presidential elections.
Mari added that the Syrian people had spoken and elected a president for their country, congratulating on behalf of the internal and external national opposition, and on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Front, Dr. Bashar al-Assad, on winning the post of President of the Republic.
In a press conference held, Mari said: “ I accept the results of the elections, whatever they are, and I congratulate President al-Assad for his election as president for all Syrians.”
Mari added: “We hope that together we will achieve the liberation of Syria from occupation and terrorism and that united as one we will return and work together to hold a national Syrian-Syrian dialogue conference in Damascus in the presence of the state and Syrian internal and external national opposition.”
Presidential candidate Abdullah Salloum Abdullah confirmed that all Syrians won as soon as the presidential elections were completed, which are considered a new victory for the Syrian people and for Syria.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Abdullah expressed his thanks and gratitude to the people of Syria in his name and on behalf of the Socialist Unionist Party for their participation in the presidential elections.
Abdullah said: “I thank everyone who voted for me. We all won once these elections were completed.This is a new victory for the Syrian people and for Syria.”
Abdullah continued: “We congratulate the President, Dr. Bashar Al-Assad, for his victory in the elections and we affirm that we in the Socialist Unionist Party will remain as we have always been alongside our people, our army and our leadership.”
