Political parties and forces as well as politicians from Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen and several countries of the world on Friday congratulated Dr. Bashar Al-Assad on his re-election as the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, stressing that the wide participation of the Syrian people in the presidential elections proves that the Syrians alone are entitled to decide their future.
From Lebanon, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri sent his congratulations to President Al-Assad on the trust of the Syrian people and wished Syria, people, army and institutions more strength, unity and stability.
Hizbollah resistance movement said in a statement that the electoral process constituted a wide-scale public and political referendum embodied in the unprecedented turnout by voters at the ballot boxes and the rallies that took place in the country before, during and after the elections.
Hizbollah expressed hope that the coming years will provide an opportunity for Syria to restore to itself its normal leading role as a key Arab and international player. It also wished the Syrians more prosperity and success in reconstructing their country and liberating the rest of the areas which are still controlled by the terrorists and occupation forces.
Many other Lebanese politicians and parties said that presidential elections in Syria have culminated Syria’s victories in the war on terrorism and its supporters and confirmed that Syria is immune to terrorism and blockade thanks to the cohesion between the Syrian leadership, army and people.
From Iran, Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf hailed the success of the Syrian presidential elections despite all foreign pressure, stressing that this success heralds a bright future for Syria.
In a message to Speaker of Syria’s People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh, Qalibaf affirmed the Iranian parliament’s will to expand cooperation with the Syrian People’s Assembly in all domains.
Meanwhile, the Popular Committee for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command- and Fatah Movement said that the success of the electoral process has great indications, most important of which is that Syria has triumphed and it will go ahead with work to surpass the repercussion of the global terrorist war and economic blockade and start reconstruction.
In the same context, Mahdi Al-Mshat, head of the Yemeni Political Council said that presidential elections in Syria constituted a major victory on the Israeli-American scheme and the conspiracies that aimed at undermining Syria.
On his part, The Jordanian Council for People’s Policies said in a statement that holding presidential election in Syria on due time has sent a message to Syria’s enemies that independent states won’t allow any force in the world to interfere in its internal affairs and won’t affect the right of its people in choosing their legitimate leadership according to the state’s constitution and laws.
The Federation of Arab Communities in America in Latin America (Fe-Arab America) and the Arab Federation in Cuba congratulated President Al-Assad on winning the elections, stressing that his win indicates his national role as a leader who confidently defends his country against foreign intervention and struggles for peace and stability in Syria.
