Dr. Bashar Al-Assad wins elections with 95,1 percent of votes

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] Hammodah Sabbagh  announced on Thursday that Dr. Bashar Al-Assad won a fourth term in office after winning 13.540.860 (95,1% )of votes in the presidential elections held yesterday. 
 
The Speaker added that the Presidential candidate Abdallah Salloum Abdallah won 213968 (1.5% ) of votes, while the presidential candidate Mahmoud Ahmad Merei won 470 360 (3,3%)  of votes. 
 
“The number of people who took part in the elections reached 14239140 (78% ) of the Syrian citizens who had the right to vote in Syria and abroad,” Sabbagh clarified, indicating that 14000 votes were canceled.
