Russian politician has declared that the Syrian presidential elections are taking place in Syria today in a normal and democratic manner.

Dimetry Sablin, told the Syria Times newspaper on Wednesday: “What we see today in the various electoral centers in Syria is a democratic process, in contrast to what we see in Western countries.

He asserted that the presidential elections are taking place in Syria today in a normal and democratic manner, and everyone elects whoever he wants without any interference.

“These elections are a clear message to the West,” said Sablin, who is a politician member of the State Duma and Coordinator of the Russian Parliamentary Group for Relations with the People’s Assembly. 

He concluded by saying: “Syria is a sovereign state and it people have the right to choose their president and to guarantee their future.”
