An interview with Dr. Zahr Al-Lahian, a member of the Iranian Shura Council, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, and head of the Human Rights Committee.

Syriatimes: What are your first impressions about the presidential elections today?

Dr. Zahr Al-Lahian:I came from Iran by invitation from  the Syrian People’s Assembly to attend the elections and monitor them closely.

What we saw today in the streets and in the ballot boxes confirm that the Syrian people have decided their fate and they have freely chosen whomever they want.

Only the Syrian people must decide their future.

All countries should respect the election results and have no right to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs.
