Citizens in Al-Tadamon neighborhood in Damascus cast their votes in presidential elections

Presidential elections kicked off this morning in all Syrian provinces. Over the past days, Syrian citizens countrywide organized mass gatherings in support of this electoral process and in expression of their determination to rebuild Syria on stronger bases.

Syria Times visited one of the polling centers in Al-Tadamon neighborhood in Damascus. The early hours of the morning witnessed a relatively acceptable turn out of voters.

“We expect that the center will witness active participation by voters as the citizens in this neighborhood are massing themselves to come in a huge number to cast their votes,” one of the supervisors in the center said.

Rawda Al-Shini, a voter and a school manager, stressed that holding the presidential elections “declares our victory on terrorism and marks a new stage of great hope and hard work to rebuild what terrorism has destroyed. Syria is a sovereign state with an independent decision and the Syrians alone are entitled to choose their leader not any foreign party.”

Al-Tadamon neighborhood witnessed fierce battles against the foreign backed terrorist groups during the years of the terrorist war on Syria. Most of the families here have lost their loved ones in these battles, yet they never surrendered and they are grateful to the Syrian Arab Army for ridding them of the terrorists. Today they are taking part in the presidential elections to choose their leaders and confirm their adherence to the homeland and their determination to rebuild it.”

“Many families, that have lost their loved ones in the war, have come to cast their votes to prove their love for Syria, their awareness of the heinous terrorist war that targeted their country and to confirm their loyalty to their leader,” she said.
