Lebanese politicians and national forces condemn the attack on Syrians heading to participate in the presidential elections

Beirut( ST): Lebanese parties, ministers, representatives, and political forces strongly condemned the attacks by some Lebanese on buses carrying Syrians traveling from several regions to the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Lebanon to participate in the presidential elections.

Hizbollah Party strongly denounced these attacks, describing them as disgraceful and immoral.

In  a statement, Hezbollah pointed out that these groups and the political forces behind them do not at all  represent the common people of Lebanon, who insisted throughout the years of the crisis in Syria on embracing the displaced from their country.

Ghaleb Abu Zainab, one of the leading figures in Hezbollah Party said that the attack was carried out by a “hateful group,” indicating that it expresses “racism and a buried hatred that extends to the time of the Israeli occupation.

In turn, the Amal movement strongly condemned the attacks on Syrians in Lebanon, stressing that they are unacceptable transgressions that require legal prosecution and clear condemnation.

The Movement said in a statement that these behaviors are not related to the moral and humanitarian values of Lebanon, but rather represent racism and a hatred alien to the Lebanese society and outside the principles of interaction between brothers joined by a deep fraternal relationship.

The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, described in a tweet  those who carried out these attacks as “Nazis” and said, “When you strike peaceful citizens going to vote in their country’s embassy and attack their safety and dignity, we say you are Nazis.”

For its part, the Central Committee for Media in the Free Patriotic Movement condemned in a statement the attacks on the Syrian citizens, indicating that the scene of their crowding in front of the Syrian embassy in Beirut to participate in the presidential elections angered some, so they beat and insulted people.

The Head of the National Accord Party in Lebanon, Bilal Taqi al-Din, condemned the attack on the Syrian voters, pointing out that it is “an offensive matter that cannot be accepted by a reasonable person,” calling on the security forces and their concerned bodies to act decisively with the attackers and to pursue and arrest those involved and prevent the recurrence of such attack.

Former Minister Hassan Murad considered, on his Twitter account, that the attacks were unfortunate and said that it was “a blatant attempt to confiscate their opinion and infringe on their freedom, and it is clear that there is confusion in understanding the concept of democracy from some who claim to believe in it.”

For his part, Representative Jamil Al-Sayed said on his Twitter account that those who conspired with foreign countries, sought international aid, and established fake associations were surprised today by the great participation of Syrians in Lebanon in the presidential elections.
