Al-Miqdad: The paralysis of the Security Council encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its aggression and crimes against the Palestinians
New York (ST): Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, affirmed that the paralysis that the UN Security Council is facing due to the United States preventing it from assuming its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its aggression and crimes against the Palestinians.
In a speech before the United Nations General Assembly meeting on the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people delivered on behalf of him by Syria’s permanent representative to the international organization Bassam Sabbagh, Al-Miqdad indicated that the barbaric Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip and its continuous attacks on the cities and towns of the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, constitute a link in a continuous series of acts of aggression that the occupation entity has been carrying out in the Arab region, including its repeated attacks on Syria and Lebanon and its support for terrorist organizations.
Al-Miqdad said that the Israeli occupation has recently escalated its aggressive practices against the Palestinian people by destroying buildings in the Gaza Strip on the heads of its residents and intensifying attacks on cities and towns in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, in an attempt to displace its people and implement the colonial annexation and Judaization plans. Once again, Syria condemns the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and any attempt to cover up the occupation crimes that have claimed hundreds of lives and left thousands of wounded, mostly women and children, during the past few days only, which represent war crimes and crimes against humanity under international humanitarian law.
Al-Miqdad pointed out that the catastrophe that the Palestinian people have been experiencing for the past 73 years as a result of the Israeli occupation practices of forced displacement, demographic change, collective expropriation and blockade, as well as massive human rights violations and atrocious massacres have made the Palestine question a continuous human tragedy.
Al-Miqdad pointed out that the continuing practices of “Israel” against the Palestinians, the obstruction of the settlement based on the implementation of the relevant international legitimacy resolutions, and the Israeli entity’s declaration of its readiness to wage endless wars in the Middle East are all destabilizing factors in the region, stressing the need for action by the international community that believes in the United Nations Charter represented by its member states, to put an end to the crimes of the Israeli occupation and end its occupation of the Arab lands, including the Syrian Golan.
Al-Miqdad reiterated Syria’s stand by the Palestinian brothers and supported their right to establish their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital, and to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
