Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections: The electoral process in the embassies is conducted transparently and comfortably

Head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections, Judge Samer Zamrik, confirmed that the electoral process in the embassies of the Syrian Arab Republic is proceeding transparently, impartially and comfortablyfree of any obstacles or problems mentioned, indicating that the voting period can be extended in the centers that request this based on the numbers of voters.

Zamrik said in a statement to SANA delegate that after this afternoon, it will be determined whether there will be an extension in any electoral center, according to the General Elections Law, which allows, by a decision from the Supreme Elections Committee, to extend the election period for a period of five hours at most in all or some of the polling centers.

Zamrik pointed out that after closing the ballot boxes in the electoral centers abroad, the electoral commissions begin counting, and then they will beinformed of the results through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Zamrik considered that the Syrians abroad proved their affiliation and adherence to their motherland, Syria,referring to the large crowds flocking to the Syrian embassy in Beirut to cast their votes at the ballot boxes, which confirms the correct practice of this constitutional right.

Every citizen non-resident on Syrian territory has the right to exercise his right to elect the President of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Syrian embassies in accordance with the provisions of the General Elections Law, provided that his name is included in the electoral register and that there is no legal impediment to exercising his right to vote. The voting in elections  takes place abroad before ten days at most from the date set for the elections in Syria.
