al-Moallem: Geneva 2 Criterion for the Seriousness of Conspirators in Ending Arming of Terrorist Groups in Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Premier, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem reiterated that Syria is to participate in the proposed Geneva 2 meeting.

In a press conference here today, Minister al-Moallem described the proposed meeting as a ”genuine opportunity”, asserting that Syria with all seriousness is to attend the meeting as to reach to the halting of violence and terrorism.

Al-Moallem pointed out that the halting of violence and terrorism is the second to none priority for the Syrians and that Geneva 2 would be but the criterion for the seriousness of the conspirators in ending the arming of terrorist groups in Syria.

Syria is to attend Geneva 2 but not as to hand over power to the other side, underscored al-Moallem, adding that Syria would attend as to build a genuine partnership, expanded national unity government joining representatives from all spectra of the Syrian People, particularly the youth and women shaping the multifaceted democratic future of Syria.

Minister al-Moallem expressed concern over bids as to prolong the crisis in Syria, citing the recent  convening of  anti-Syrians Doha conference.

The ramifications of Doha meeting have been witnessed in Sidon, Lebanon, and in yesterday’s explosions in Damascus, Minister al-Moallem added.

There would never be a thing  but the one decided by the Syrians, Minister al-Moallem said, asserting that Syria would never a foreign-imposed solution, and none worldwide can replace the Syrian People in deciding its future.

Minister al-Moallem voiced deep trust in the Syrian people and Army as well as in victory over the foreign-backed terrorists of more than 29 countries.

The Israeli role in facilitating the crossing of armed terrorist groups who kidnapped UNDOF personnel and the Qatari role were vehemently blasted by Minister al-Moallem.

Minister al-Moallem appreciated the constructive role played by Russia and Iran in trying to end the crisis in Syria, asserting the importance of  Iran’s “extremely important”  participation in the proposed Geneva 2 as to achieve security and stability in the region.

In reply to a question, Minister al-Moallem denied categorically any presence for fighters from Iran, Iraq, or any experts from Russia in Syria.

Minister al-Moallem blasted the decisions taken as to supply the more of arms to the terrorists of Jabhit al-Nusra on the ground, asserting that arming the opposition would but derail Geneva 2 conference and contribute to the killing of more Syrians.

Minister al-Moallem underscored the need that neighboring countries stop arming, training and smuggling terrorists and weapons to Syria.

The Deputy Premier, Foreign and Expatriates Minister reiterated that the terrorists have used nerve gas against Syrians at Khan al-Assal, Aleppo, recalling the Syrian demand, backed by substantial and documented proof, to this effect, blasting the French, British, and Qatari bids to expand the investigation as to derail the investigation, asserting that Syria would never accept any breach to its sovereignty.

Syria never stated to have chemical weapons and the talk about their use is but lies and fabrications, Minister al-Moallem outlined.

“Saudi Arabia is but a basic part in the conspiracy against Syria,” Minister al-Moallem said in reply to a question.
