Putin calls for reaching a solution to the Palestinian cause

Russian President Vladimir Putin has underscored the need to seek a solution to the Palestinian cause based on the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the generally recognized principles of international law.

Putin’s remarks came on Tuesday at the ceremony of presentation of credentials by foreign ambassadors.

“In recent days, we have witnessed a sharp escalation in the Middle East, and we are all aware of that and are following the developments in the region with concern. The outbreak of hostilities between Palestinians and Israelis has already resulted in a large number of civilian casualties, including children,” he said, according to TASS.

Putin recalled that Russia as a permanent member of the UN Security Council “seeks to make its proportional contribution to the settlement of acute crises and the solution of many other urgent international problems.” “We have done a lot to normalize the situation in Syria, we are helping to establish a peaceful political dialogue in that country…”

He asserted that Moscow is prepared to interact with all countries and build mutually beneficial cooperation on the principles of equality and non-interference.

“We systematically press for ensuring equal and indivisible security and for honest and fair economic cooperation, free from foul competition and politically motivated sanctions and restrictions,” Putin clarified.
