Damascus, (ST) – President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, and the accompanying delegation visited on Monday Maaloula and Sednaya towns in Damascus countryside as part of their current visit to Syria.
In the Monastery of Martigla in Maaloula, the Abkhaz President listened to an explanation of the acts of vandalism inflicted on the town and the church as a result of terrorism. He expressed his appreciation for the steadfastness of the townspeople and their courage in defending this religious and historical place.
During the visit, a group of children sang songs in Aramaic.
The Abkhaz President also visited the Monastery of the Lady of Sednaya and listened to an explanation of the head of the monastery, Febronia Nabhan, about the spiritual importance of this monastery and the vandalism that targeted it as a result of f terrorist organizations until clearing up the region at the hands of Syrian Arab Army.
President of Abkhazia arrived in Damascus on Sunday evening on an official visit that will last for several days.
