President of the Republic of Abkhazia arrives in Damascus to discuss developing relations between the two countries

On May 16th’s evening, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bjania arrived in Damascus International Airport on a visit to Syria.

During the 4-day visit, President Bjania will meet with senior officials and hold discussions to develop and strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries.

The delegation accompanying the President of Abkhazia includes the President of the National Assembly, Valery Kvarchia, the head of the administration of the President’s office, Alkhas Kvitsenia, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture Beslan Goboa, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, the co-chair of the Syrian Abkhaz Committee, Christina Ozgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Daur Kofi, and Minister of Tourism Timuraz Kheshba.

The President of Abkhazia and the accompanying official delegation were received by the Minister of Transport, Eng. Zuhair Khazim and  Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ayman Susan, Director of the European Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Luay Fellouh, Director of Protocol Department Dr. Sami Salama and Ambassador of Abkhazia in Damascus Bagrat Khotaba.

On October 6th, 2020, an embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia was opened in Damascus, which contributes to developing and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.
