South Africa has condemned the barbaric Israeli aggression on occupied Palestinian territories as well as the Israeli occupation’s crime of displacing the Palestinians from their houses in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Al-Quds to reside Israeli settlers instead.
In a statement on Friday following its meeting chaired by President Cyril Ramaphosa, the government of South Africa stressed that the Israeli occupation’s behavior flagrantly violates the international law and completely disregards the Security Council Resolutions, including Resolutions Nos. 446 for 1979 and 2334 for 2016 which clearly call for ending the Israeli occupation and maintaining the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, including to self determination and complete independence.
The South African government also urged halting the barbaric Israeli attacks on the Palestinians and enforcing international legitimacy resolutions which provide for establishing a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
On its part, the African National Congress (ANC), the ruling party in South Africa, voiced support for the Palestinian people in their struggle to restore freedom and determine their future. It condemned with the strongest terms the Israeli occupation’s crime of evicting the Palestinians from their houses in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and attacking Palestinian demonstrators in Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging an immediate action by the international community to prevent the Israeli occupation from expanding its illegal settlement building operations on Palestinian lands.
The Communist Party in South Africa also condemned the US-backed Israeli aggression on occupied Palestinian territories, calling for practicing utmost pressure on the Israeli entity to give up its apartheid policy towards the Palestinians.
