Vienna (ST): The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that two schools affiliated to it were exposed to Israeli shelling during the continued aggression of the occupation on the besieged Gaza Strip.
A statement by the agency published on its website said that on the 11th and 12th of this month, two UNRWA schools inside its compound were bombed in the context of the airstrikes launched by “Israel” on Gaza, which caused severe damage to the western perimeter of the compound, including no less than 29 rooms, and a building belonging to the Agency was also subjected to shelling, which caused damage to the wall surrounding the offices.
The Agency continued that according to international law, UNRWA buildings enjoy immunity and their inviolability is not permissible, pointing out that all UNRWA facilities can be clearly distinguished by carrying the United Nations flag.
For the fifth consecutive day, the Israeli occupation authorities continue their barbaric aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has caused 119 martyrs, including 31 children, in addition to the injury of more than 600 others.
Last Tuesday, UNRWA strongly condemned the targeting of the occupation forces with artillery shells Beit Hanoun refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of four children from one family under the age of 12, in addition to severe material damage.
