Damascus, (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday received Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation.
The talks dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries, the continuation of consultation and coordination at all levels. The talks also dealt with ways of enhancing joint cooperation in various fields, especially at the economic level, in the interest of the two peoples and the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, they discussed developments in the political track, including the Constitution Discussion Committee, in addition to the situation on the ground in Syria and the illegal American and Turkish presence, which impedes the continuation of the anti-terrorism process and causes instability in the region.
The talks also dealt with developments in the situation in the region, the recent Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories, and Israeli practices aimed at changing the character and status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Minister Zarif briefed President Al-Assad on developments in the Iranian nuclear file, the details of the negotiations that are taking place around it. He affirmed the sabotage role played by some parties, which aims to obstruct progress in the negotiations of the nuclear file.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser in the Presidency, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Luna Al-Shebel, Special Adviser in the Presidency of the Republic, and the Iranian ambassador in Damascus.
