Syria, Iraq discuss Turkish regime’s measures related to Euphrates and Tigris rivers

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The Minister of Water Resources Tammam Raed discussed on Thursday with his Iraqi counterpart Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani the recent developments related to the Turkish regime’s measures that prevented Syria and Iraq from their water share that flows to Euphrates  and Tigris rivers. 
 
During video talks , the two minsters discussed the joint efforts that should be taken to put pressure on the Turkish regime to stop its measures.
 
The Iraqi minister highlighted the suffering of Iraqi people because of the shortage of water in the Euphrates and Tigris rivers as a result of the Turkish measures taken during the past period.
 
He pointed out that Iraq has implemented a lot of procedures on several levels to increase water supplies in the two rivers, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).
 
For his part, Raed focused on the efforts being exerted by the Syrian government through communication with friendly countries and international organizations to press the Turkish regime to stop its measures that harm the two brotherly countries, Syria and Iraq, stressing the importance of intensifying their efforts in this field.
 
The two sides agreed on upgrading the level of coordination and exchanging technical information for the common interest of the two countries.
