Central celebration at the Hmeimim base on the 76th anniversary of the victory over Nazism

Latakia (ST): On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Great Russian Patriotic War and the victory over Nazism, a central ceremony was held  at the Russian military base in Hmeimim.

General Ali Abdullah Ayoub, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense delivered a speech during the ceremony in which he conveyed the congratulations of the President Bashar al-Assad the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces to the Russian officers and soldiers at the base on this occasion that embodies the meanings of pride, stressing that the Syrian people highly  appreciates the sincere support provided by the Russian armed forces in the face of terrorism and the principled stances of the Russian Federation towards Syria.

General Ayoub stressed that Syria is strong and steadfast, and that the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab Army, its sacrifices, and the support of its friends will result in a complete victory over international terrorism, its tools and supporters.

General Alexander Shaigo, commander of the Russian forces operating in Syria, gave a speech in which he expressed feelings of pride in the heroic deeds of previous generations that defeated Nazism, pointing out that this victory continues today, generation after generation.

General Shaigo pointed out that the Russian officers and soldiers stand side by side with their comrades in the Syrian Arab Army in confronting international terrorism, leading to the establishment of security and stability on all Syrian lands.

The celebration included a military parade in which Syrian and Russian units participated, as well as a display of ammunition and weapons, as well as aerial war shows in which multiple types of Syrian and Russian aircrafts participated. In the end, the two sides exchanged gifts and commemorative medals.
