A march organized in Damascus to mark Jerusalem World Day

Damascus (ST): Under the title “Jerusalem is Closer”, a march to mark World Jerusalem Day was organized in Damascus today from the entrance of the Hamidiyeh Market towards the Umayyad Mosque, with wide popular participation.

The march organized by the Preparatory Committee to mark World Jerusalem Day will be followed by a central festival that includes several words on the occasion and a final statement for the participants in the presence of leaders of Syrian and Palestinian parties, resistance groups, national personalities, clerics, and a number of representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Damascus.

World Jerusalem Day is celebrated on the last Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan every year in all parts of the world in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in rejection of the attempts to Judaize the holy city practiced by the Israeli occupation authorities, based on the initiative launched by the leader of the Iranian Islamic revolution, the late Imam Khomeini in 1979.
