After a ten-year hiatus as a result of the terrorist war on Syria, the city of Suqaylabiyah, in the western Hama countryside, celebrated the “Resurrection” Day, which symbolizes Easter, the Resurrection of Christ.
George Sankari, a member of the Hama governorate council, said: “ The city commemorated the Day of Resurrection after ten years of hiatus as a result of the terrorist attacks on it with treachery and mortar shells.”
He said that the cleansing of the area of terrorists ’impurity re-celebrated the Resurrection Day as a symbol of the resurrection of Christ and the resurrection Syria.
He said that another resurrection awaits the people of Suqaylabiyah on the 26th of May, which is the presidential elections, in which the people will participate on a large scale in support of the renewed Syria and to ensure a bright future for it.
Mayor of the city of Suqaylabiyah WaddahFarrouh said that the day of “resurrection” symbolizes the victory of the will of life over death, joy and dignity over oppression and pain.
Father Louis Skaf, the representative of the Diocese of Suqaylabiyah, commented that the city is living its joys today by celebrating the resurrection.
Metropolitan Nicolas Baalbaki said that just as Christ rose from pain and darkness to delights and light, Syria today rises from its ordeal and the blame it has afflicted over the past ten years.
