The Supreme Constitutional Court: Accepting three applications for candidacy for the post of the President

Damascus (ST): The Supreme Constitutional Court announced the acceptance of three candidate applications for the post of President of the Republic, and the rejection of the remaining candidate  applications submitted because they did not meet the constitutional and legal requirements.

President of the Court, Mohammad Jihad Al-Lahham, said during a press conference that the court decided, in its initial announcement, to accept the nominations of Abdullah Sallum Abdullah, Bashar Hafez al-Assad and Mahmoud Ahmad Mare’i for the post of President of the Syrian Arab Republic and rejected the rest of the requests for not meeting the constitutional and legal requirements.

Al-Lahham indicated that those whose applications were rejected have the right to appeal to the court within three days, starting from the morning of Tuesday, May 4.
