On International Workers’ Day Syrian workers reaffirm their determination to rebuild Syria

Syrian workers have always proved that they are adherent and loyal to their homeland and ready to defend its independence, national sovereignty and independent decision and they never hesitated in doing their duty towards the country under any circumstances, the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) said in a statement on Friday marking International Workers’ Day .

Over the past years of the terrorist war on Syria, the Syrian workers proved their deep belongingness and patriotism through working under very difficult and risky circumstances and they kept steadfast in their work sites to meet citizens’ requirements despite the dangerous situation resulted from by this war.

“Today, Syria’s enemies are focusing on the economic war to starve the Syrian people and impede Syria’s reconstruction after they failed in subjugating the country through terrorism and aggression. They issued the so-called Caesar Act, tightened the sanctions and multi-faceted siege imposed against the Syrians and tried to undermine the national currency,” the GFTU stressed.

It clarified that confronting this war requires concerted national efforts and capabilities to achieve victory, pointing out that this escalation by the enemies won’t weaken the Syrian people’s determination to defend their homeland and continue the national steadfastness until these enemies are defeated.

The GFTU reiterated that Syrian workers will continue to back up the Syrian Arab Army, will be a solid barrier in the face of aggression forces and they will join efforts to rebuild the hoped-for stable and prosperous Syria.
