Prague (ST): Deputy Chairman of the Czech Moravian Communist Party, Milan Kraicha , affirmed that holding presidential elections in Syria is a sovereign right and no country has the right to intervene in, denouncing attempts to interfere in this matter.
In a statement to news correspondent in Prague today, Kraicha said that it is the right of every sovereign country, including Syria, to elect its leadership, noting that holding the presidential elections on time is an expression of the Syrian people’s adherence to their sovereignty and independence and their rejection of all external pressures and interference.
For his part, Arthur Bekmatov, head of the Slovakian Socialists party, stressed that Western governments have not succeeded in subduing Syria militarily and therefore they are exercising various forms of pressure, including questioning the legitimacy of the presidential elections before they take place.
In a similar statement, Bekmatov praised the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the failure of Western powers’ plans aimed at destabilizing Syria’s security and stability and trying to impose their will on it, explaining that the presidential election is another step towards the gradual stability of the country and a starting point for defining the future of Syria after ten years of the devastating war that was waged against it.
