BAGHDAD, (ST)_ The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Bassam Touma discussed on Thursday with his Iraqi counterpart Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, means of boosting joint cooperation between Syria and Iraq in the fields of oil, energy, training and exchanging experiences.
According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the two sides, asserted during the session of talks that was held in Baghdad, the need to promote and develop cooperation in all domains for the common interest of the two countries’ peoples.
Touma told SANA that the first session of talks dealt with a number of ideas, visions and projects that serve the progress of the oil industry in the two countries, indicating the strategic importance of Syria’s position in the field of oil trade.
For his part, , the Iraqi minister expressed his country’s keenness to strengthen its relations with neighboring countries and the Arab region in all fields, especially the oil, gas and energy sectors, in a way that serves common interests.
