Holding presidential elections in Syria on their scheduled time proves the strength of the Syrian state’s institutions: Iranian journalist

Holding presidential elections in Syria on their scheduled time proves the strength of the Syrian state’s institutions, Iranian journalist Ahmad Reza Ruhullah Zad has stressed.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Tehran, Ruhullah Zad, who is the deputy director of Al-Quds News Agency, said that holding these elections embodies democracy and popular sovereignty and affirms that the Syrians are the ones who decide the future of their country despite all difficult circumstances and pressures.

“Some countries are against holding these elections because these elections perpetuate the victories achieved by the Syrian people over terrorist schemes,” Ruhullah Zad said, pointing out that despite all the political, economic and pressure practiced on Syria, the Syrian government and people are determined to hold  successful, free and fair elections that embody the concept of popular sovereignty.
