For the second year consecutively, the ADA team from the Syrian Informatics Association branch in Lattakia won first place in the artificial intelligence competition (GirlsinAI ) for adolescents for the year 2021. The competition was organized remotely by Britain last March, and its results were released on Saturday evening. The competition aimed at encouraging the new generation to enter the world of technology and artificial intelligence.
The idea of the project is to help autistic patients and their families discover their creative tendencies so as to be encouraged and directed in the right path.
Regarding this achievement, engineer Maryam Jawdat Fayyod, head of the association’s branch in Lattakia and the supervisor of the competition locally, said in a statement to SANA that what distinguishes the competition of this year is the high number of participants, which exceeded 3 thousand adolescents from more than 29 countries around the world that have a leading position in the field of artificial intelligence.
Fayyod indicated that the selection process of the participants is carried out in accordance with the conditions of the competition in terms of knowledge in the sciences of artificial intelligence, creative thinking, the ability to present and advocate ideas. At the local level, ten teams participated in the competition with 50 boys and girls, more than half of them are girls.
Fayyod noted that the result was not surprising due to their exerted efforts in investing the energies of youth and adolescents and directing them in line with the most up to date technologies and sciences .
Engineer Fayyad confirmed the continuation of activities within the artificial intelligence club and working to expand the capabilities of logistical clubs so that we can target the largest possible number of children and adolescents and strengthening Syria’s scientific position in international forums.
In turn, team leader Ali Saud said that the word ADA is an abbreviation for the name of the application that they designed, expressing his pride in representing Syria and raising its name in an international competition.
Members of the team expressed their happiness with this experience and the valuable knowledge that they gained through their meeting with supervisors, observers and trainers.
