Syria calls on international organizations to put pressure on the Turkish occupation to stop its criminal practices of cutting off water for the citizens of Al-Hasakah
On April 25th, the Syrian government renewed its strong condemnation of the repeated Turkish brutal practices by cutting off drinking water from the Alouk station to the city of Hasakah.
The Syrian government called on international organizations to pressure on the Turkish occupation authorities to stop these practices and to shed light on their disastrous repercussions on the Syrians and to immediately re-pump water from the station.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement: “The Turkish occupation forces and its mercenaries continue their criminal practices and violations against the Syrian civilians from the people of Hasakah Governorate.
The Ministry said the Turkish occupation forces and its mercenaries has once again cut off drinking water from the Alouk station from the city and its suburbs for more than 16 consecutive days.
The Ministry said that more than a million Syrian despite the critical health situation associated with the Covid 19 pandemic and the need for water to drink and to maintain cleanliness at a time when the region is witnessing a significant rise in temperatures during the blessed month of Ramadan, which severely exacerbates the great suffering of the residents of the city of Hasaka.
The ministry added: “ The Syrian government renews its strong condemnation of these repeated brutal Turkish practices, which have exceeded 23 times since October 2019, which violate the provisions of international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the inadmissibility of using water as a weapon of war.”
The Ministry said: “ The Syrian Arab Republic calls on international organizations, especially the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to put pressure on the Turkish occupation authorities to stop these criminal practices against innocent Syrians in the governorate of Hasakah.”
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari summoned this morning the representatives of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and the United Nations agencies operating in Syria and the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria and briefed them on the seriousness of the matter and asked them to move urgently with their superiors in New York and Geneva to stop this unjustified Turkish escalation towards the Syrian citizens in the governorate of Hasakah
