Spanish academics: Presidential elections in Syria are a categorical response to foreign interference

Pablo Sabbagh, a researcher and academic at a  State University in the Spanish capital, Madrid, confirmed that the presidential elections scheduled to take place in Syria on the 26th of next May are clear evidence of the strength of the Syrian state and the immunity of its political system in the face of external pressures and interference.

This election is evidence of democracy and freedom in Syria, Sabbagh said in a stament to SANA correspondent in Madrid. He considered that these elections will lead the country towards rebuilding what has been ravaged and destroyed by terrorism and its supporters.

In turn, the researcher and professor of history at San Pablo Private University in Madrid and the head of the Social Cultural Forum, José Luis Aurela, highlighted the importance of holding this presidential election in expressing the Syrian people’s adherence to their sovereignty and independence and their rejection of all external pressures and interference.

The Spanish academic denounced the unjust coercive economic measures imposed by the United States and European countries on Syria, especially in light of the difficult situation due to Covid 19 epidemic, which impedes  the work and efforts of the Syrian government in obtaining medicines and medical devices to fight the pandemic.

Alberto Montaner Frutus, an academic and professor of Philosophy and Literature at the University of Zaragoza, affirmed that the presidential elections in Syria will play pivotal role in realizing  gradual stability of the country and defining the future of Syria after ten years of the devastating war that was waged against it.

Frutus considered that these elections represent a challenge to all Western governments that have bet on overthrowing Syria through their support for terrorist organizations and misleading Western public opinion against the Syrian state. He underlined the importance of the participation of Syrians abroad in these elections through the existing Syrian embassies to refute the lies and allegations made by the Western parties hostile to the Syrian people.
