The Armenian genocide will forever be a stain haunting Turkey

Marking the 106th anniversary of the genocide committed by the Ottomans against the Armenian people, members of the Syrian People’s Assembly have stressed that this genocide will forever be a stain that will haunt Turkey as long as the Turkish regime continues to deny it and as long as this regime goes on with implementing its aggressive schemes in Syria.

The parliamentarians’ remarks were made on Saturday during the PA’s session chaired by Speaker Hammouda Al-Sabbagh.

They stressed the Armenian people’s gratitude for the Syrian people, leadership and government for all the goodness  they have shown to the Armenians over the past years.

Concerning the forthcoming presidential elections in Syria, some PA members affirmed that the Syrian people, who managed to foil all conspiracies thanks to their strong will, won’t be dissuaded by any foreign pressure to practice their constitutional right and duty in choosing the president of their country.

They emphasized that the presidential elections, due to be held on May 26th, will be a turning point in Syria’s contemporary history that will have political, economic and social impacts, noting that these elections will affirm Syria’s determination to maintain democracy and freedom of expression.
