The Syrian-Russian Businessmen online Forum was held on Friday under the title “Syria and Russia.. Possibilities and Prospects”. It focused on boosting relations between the businessmen of the two countries with the aim of increasing trade exchange and economic cooperation.
The event was held by Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chamber of Industry and Center for the Development of Innovative Projects in Moscow within the activities of the Business Forum 2021.
The Syrian and Russian companies reviewed prospects of cooperation in the field of textile production, the possibility of settling textile production in Syria and the importance of exhibitions in creating suitable circumstances for developing cooperation between Syria and Russia.
The participants concentrated in their discussions on rehabilitating the Syrian Radio and TV transmission systems, investment in renewable energy in the country and organizing the joint production of the anti-coronavirus vaccine.
According to Samer Al-Dibs, Head of Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chamber of Industry, the Syrian-Russian economic relations were established and based on a set of agreements and protocols that aim at facilitating and encouraging trade exchange and economic and scientific cooperation in the areas of energy, irrigation, agriculture, industry, transportation and official trade exchange with Syria which forms 20% of the volume of Russia’s trade exchange with all Arab countries.
He affirmed that trade exchange between Syria and Russia will open many areas of constructive cooperation, especially Russia’s contribution to reconstructing Syria, establishing factories, supplying raw materials, developing the country’s infrastructure and industrial technology from which the Syrian industrialists hope to benefit in a way that serves the Syrian public sector and private industrial sectors and opens fields of exportation to Russia.
He invited the Russian companies and businessmen to play an effective role in Syria’s reconstruction process.
On his part, Igor Alexandrovic Matviv from the Russian side, said that his country is ready to provide all forms of support and assistance to the Syrian businessmen in the fields of industry, especially the textile industry, trade, investment, technology, communications, energy and medicine, supporting joint investment, in addition to participation in exhibitions that will be held in Syria.
