Terrorists in Idlib’s de-escalation zone plotting new provocations with the use of chemical weapons

The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Friday that the terrorist organizations positioned in the de-escalation zone in Idlib are planning to fabricate a new chemical attack with the aim of accusing the Syrian Arab army of using chemical weapons against civilians.

The ministry quoted Alexander Karpov, Deputy Chief of the Russian Coordination Center in Syria, as saying that following the baseless resolution of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) that limits Syria’s rights in the organization, reports are coming that terrorists of Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (Jabhat Al-Nusra) terror organization are planning to carry out a provocation with the use of chemical materials in the Idlib de-escalation zone in order to accuse the Syrian Army of using chemical weapons.  

Karpov added that the terrorists were observed delivering toxic agents to the outskirts of Idleb and to Jisr Al-Shugur and Bdama areas in Idleb countryside, indicating that these moves coincide with increased activities of the “White Helmets” terror organization in this area.

 He pointed out that the terrorists plan to use information about the victims of their fabrications to discredit the Syrian government.

The Russian Ministry of Defense repeatedly confirmed the existence of laboratories, run by specialists and experts trained in Europe, for preparing toxic materials for the terrorist organizations in Idlib to be used in coordination with the “White Helmets” in staging chemical attacks against civilians to accuse the Syrian state of using chemical weapons.
