Shulgin: The Western decision in OPCW indicates its transformation into a political tool

On April 21st, the Russian representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) , Alexander Shulgin, said  that the Western decision in the Organization against Syria indicates that it has been turned into a political tool.

“ This day has become a black day in the history of the Organization and it is very unfortunate that this organization has transformed from a technical body to a political tool that prosecutes the member states in it,” the Russian news agency TASS quoted Shulgin as saying at the 25th session of the Conference of States Parties to OPCW.

Shulgin added that what happened within the walls of the Organization will be a shame not only for us and the countries that voted against this resolution, but also for many of those who supported it.

Shulgin said that sooner or later the truth about the events will emerge and history will somehow put everything in its place.

On April 20th, Shulgin said that the accusations made by some Western countries against Syria regarding the “use of chemical weapons” are fabricated and dictated by the geopolitical interests of these countries.
