DAMASCUS, (ST)_Several members of the Parliament have started to write down a preliminary “yes” for their candidate to the presidential elections to be held on May, 26, 2021 in Syria.
General elections’ law won’t accept the candidacy application to the President post except after having the written approval of at least 35 MPs, according to the Syrian News Agency.
So far, three people, including a female, have applied to run for presidential elections.
On Sunday and during an extraordinary session of the parliament, Sabbagh announced that the door will be open to run for president as of April, 19, 2021, setting May, 26, 2021 as the date of holding the country’s presidential elections.
On Monday, Sabbagh received two notifications from the Supreme Constitutional Court that Abdullah Salloum Abdullah and Mohammad Firas Yasin Rajjouh had applied to run for president.
