Ambassador Haddad stresses the necessity of unifying efforts to eradicate terrorism away from politicization and selectivity

Moscow (ST):  The Syrian ambassador to Russia, Dr. Riyad Haddad, stressed the need for concerted efforts by all countries of the world to eliminate terrorism, which represents a threat to international peace and security, and the safety and stability of countries.

During a video conference with Russia Today channel on the occasion of the National Independence Day,  Haddad affirmed the necessity of  moving away from politicization, selectivity and double standards in combating terrorism and refraining from attempts to find justifications for the perpetrators of terrorist acts.

He added that the states that sponsor terrorism have made use of all their political, media, financial and logistical tools to support terrorist organizations that have caused pain and tragedy to the Syrian people.

He indicated  that the so-called (international coalition against terrorism) led by the United States is an illegal alliance that was formed outside the framework of international legitimacy, noting that the only achievements of this coalition are  direct military aggression against Syria targeting its sovereignty and territorial integrity,  smuggling of antiquities and oil from Syria and plunder of its mineral resources.

Ambassador Haddad pointed out that Syria’s steadfastness has pushed the countries that support terrorism to resort to economic terrorism as a tool to influence the Syrian citizen and the government and pressure it to make political concessions.

He concluded by stressing that Syria believes that the prospects for resolving the crisis in it must be based on the commitment to its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and the liberation of the areas occupied by the United States and Turkey.
